This Picasso lithograph was acquired in 1941 at a bookstore in St. Louis by the artist Martyl Langsdorf. Then just 24, it was her first art purchase, made on the advice of her companion that day, the noted art historian H.W. Janson. Despite the steep $100 price at the time, Martyl bought the work, which remained in her home for nearly seven decades before being passed down to her family.
Work is in good condition. Sheet shows mat burn, toning and a tiny tear to the lower right edge. Pencil inscription to the lower left corner by unknown hand. Image presents well. Unframed.
